A friend who had come home for dinner, picked us up some halwa from New Mansuri Halwa Corner.
There were 2 flavours in the box and I forgot to ask him, which ones exactly he had picked up for us, we were too busy licking our lips and finger tips. He later told me that they were dry fruit halwa and magaz (melon seed) halwa. I preferred the dry fruit halwa and the husband preferred the magaz.
The halwa from here is not the Karachi Halwa (jellylike) variety, it is more of a milk cake variety, but with tons of additional nuts added to it, which makes the halwa really rich. (Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the halwa before it was devoured)
The amount of ghee in it, could make some people think twice, but I committed the sacrilege of warming the halwa in the microwave and draining off a large part of the ghee.
Added bonus ? the warmed up halwa was even more delicious than at room temperature.
The amount of milk, nuts and patience required to make this halwa, more than justifies the prices. Try it out.
